My chicken with "water belly" is getting to the point where she needs to be drained again. If this is from a possible infection, I would like to treat her with antibiotics. What type do I need to look for when going to TSC? Oral would be preferred.
I have another chicken that is breathing kinda...
Thank you so much, that was very helpful. The liquid was yellowish, and the chicken is very happy foraging with the others, so I would like to try antibiotics. What kind, and where can I get it? We don't have a chicken vet around here, so is this something I can buy at Tractor Supply?
Hello! I have been away for a long time. Everything has been rather quiet with my backyard chickens. I don't have time to catch up on what I missed, but I hope everyone (and their chickens) are doing well!
I'm back for now because we have a chicken issue. One of our hens, our daughter's...
I think possums are cute. We see them all the time here. They sure get fat off of our cat food we leave for the wild cats. Are you sure that’s what it was?
Most of them are rescues so I’m not entirely sure. It ranges from around 2 years old to 8 years old. The old chickens still lay pretty well. Over the summer we were getting a dozen eggs a day. Not sure why the sudden drop. I’m still thinking they have a nest somewhere outside, but I cannot find it.
The new chicken (that we found roaming outside by herself) is now out of the separation cage and is doing really good in the flock. She has her upper beak clipped (from before we found her). Will that grow back or will it be weird forever?
Also, now I have 14 hens. Some are going through a molt...
Hi, popping in again. I don't have time to catch up on all of the posts but I'm sorry to see that Candy is gone. We lost a favorite chicken suddenly too, only overnight. That was a few weeks ago and thankfully the others seem fine. We also got a call last night that there was a chicken roaming...
I only have 1 cage so I would have to separate them one at a time. The 2 golden laced wyandottes are the worst. They will start attacking Tiny (our favorite of course), then the others follow and attack her too. I don't understand why. She used to be out and about with them all the time then...
I wish we lived closer. We are in Erie county. Having issues with two golden laced wyandottes picking on all the other chickens. Nearly killed our broody hen. Don't have the heart to kill them but want to give them away or trade for two other chickens.
Thank you for the info.
I have a hen that is probably on the bottom of the pecking order. She has a small prolapse I would guess? Acting and eating normal but I can see some pink tissue protruding when she pushes it out. It goes back in so will it heal on it's own? I'm not sure what to do since...
Hello, popping in again.
I don't think I ever got an answer but can anyone tell me what kind of regular worming schedule I should be using for my birds? They all seem healthy but I probably should worm them to be sure. What kind of wormer, how much, how often? Thanks!
