Hard to tell. Some hens have darker combs though the redness of it MAY suggest cockerel. All roosters crow at different ages. My 3 month old GLW rooster has not tried to crow yet, some crow as early as 3 days I've heard.
Barred rock pullets will usually have thicker black stripes, appearing darker, while cockerels will have thicker white stripes, appearing lighter. :)
Both of those seem to be more dark. :D
Most defiantly a cockrel! If you look on his back you can see the long saddle feathers coming down. Very beautiful Fred though! Will make an excellent rooster. :)
We ordered 3 girls from Murray McMurray and they are now almost 3 months old. From a week old we could tell who was the cock. They will pink up early sometimes but roosters will grow comb + wattle earlier. :) Those look like my girls.

Rooster. I have heard that if there is patches of dark red on wings in EEs it symbols rooster even if comb does not. I myself have a EE girl who we are unsure about.
