She has food and water in there her body is just blocking it :) the attention is a good idea, even just sitting with her may make her day a bit better! Thank you!
Our poor hen Henrietta has some internal injuries (confirmed by a vet who did x rays and found several spots of concern on her back and ribs) that most likely occurred from her falling off a perch during a rough molt and has been confined to the infirmary crate for a month!! She has only been...
I have tried scrambled egg but not hard boiled; I will try that after lunch and see if that can entice her! We’ve tried making a mash with blueberries which was disregarded but have not tried canned tuna!
We currently have a 3 and 1/2 year old Rhode Island Red (Henrietta) that is going through a rough molt. She started with a decreased appetite last Friday but acting normal otherwise, digging scratching, talking to us, drinking, just a decrease in appetite. Yesterday we found her sitting in the...
One thing that really frustrates me is the lack of correct legal documents that are supplied to owners. Many forms claim that they have signed days before that they consent to this or are inaccurate forms (some said they were euthanizing due to avian flu) I believe that the emotions behind the...
Has the CDFA released any info on what they plan to do now that the virus is back in la county? I thought that was there “worst case scenario” that the culling was supposed to prevent? (Supposedly back in La county, unclear if the detections listed on the website have actually been tested and...
FYI if you live in Southern California most counties are in quarantine or no mail zones (so no chicks mailed) please check this before you move poultry around or get new chicks! If you’d feed store is in a quarantined area and they have new chicks find out where they came from!
They also have been just dumping the bodies in public dumps without any bags or anything...the complete disregard for any bio security if the situation is as serious as they say is just outrageous
It frustrates me that the news will jump on backyard chickens having salmonella but when there are thousands of birds being killed inhumanely they turn a blind eye:rolleyes:
So true. It would be obvious at that point that the chickens did not get it from the neighbors! It seems like the euthanization area around confirmed cases seems to be arbitrary... saw one post on that face book page where she found out there were no confirmed cases within 10 miles and hens were...
Hi everyone,
We live in Santa Barbara County just below the Thomas Fire burn scar. We got tons of smoke and ash during the fire (we did evacuate including the chickens to another area) but our chickens seemed to be fine afterward with no respiratory problems. Unfortunately, over the past...
In general they could have done a better job spreading information, especially those next to counties with active cases; we were not aware of the case in the county next to us until a few months after
Thank you for your response! As she is behaving normally we think that it might have hit the side of the egg box and cracked and she ate it! Will have to keep an eye on that!
