Oh man I didn't know that :0 I was following a video that said you should make them vomit, I wont be attempting that anymore if its that dangerous! :(
@Eggcessive
I did decide to go with chilled coconut oil after reading a few different articles and that helped, I tried massaging her but not much really came out so Ill try a brace on her and set up her own little crate for now. I do give my hens a mix of granite and oyster shell grit, if that...
Today I noticed my hen, Petunia, doing this weird gagging motion so I decided to see what was up with her. After a quick examination I found that her crop is really hard and swollen feeling.
Is this impacted crop, and if so, what should I do? I read online that you should give the chicken olive...
That sounds pretty likely! One of my 'CCLB' girls is starting to grow in a single comb and no crest of any sort. The other has a crest and single comb though. They have very EE colors as well
So, a few months ago I bought some chicks at the local tractor supply. They were advertised as easter egger pullets, but as time went on some turned out to be male, another a Delaware, and two more are CCLBs (i know they lay colored eggs, but not what I was expecting lol)
Now Im sort of curious...
@PurpleCArTires Ive put a fan in the run and set up a mister and a wading pool for the flock, it seems to be helping. Luckily my wyandotte seems to be having less extreme 'flashes' now that things are a little cooler. I think Im going to assume its a heat related thing, but I do like the idea...
I just checked my hens for worms and got nothing :/ maybe my hen is just getting overheated? We treated the flock to some watermelon and that made her face turn dark red for a few minutes before the 'flashing' started up again
Anybody have any idea on what this could be? She just had another pale face moment this afternoon, I think it might have to do with the heat but Im not 100% sure.
One of my chickens, a gold laced wyandotte hen, keeps having weird on and off moments where her face will get super pale. Its super random and lasts less than a minute, but her face and comb turn very pale pink, almost whitish before going back to normal. She doesn't seem to really notice this...
