I was wondering if someone can tell me how long an egg will stay "good" during summer and winter? My hens are laying at different times of the day and I think that I am not getting some until the following day because they lay so late.
Thanks
My goats and chickens share the same space too. The problem I have is keeping the food away from the goats. My whethers go nuts for the stuff. I haven't been giving it to the hens in a dish, I have been kind of tossing it around so the hens will pick off the ground and the goats are too spoiled...
I have 8 pullets and 3 hens, none of which are laying at this time. Hens are molting and pullets haven't started. I feed them purina layer pellets from tractor supply. I am going to call them free range because they have 1/4 acre to themselves which is fenced in. Well, they do share with 3...
Hi. i just read your post about your goat jumping on you. I too have a male goat who is now wethered, but still would jump on me and.... well you know. I was reading a post somewhere, no clue no as it was months ago. They said you need to show them who is boss and floor him. Keep him pushed on...
Not the best shots as my camera is old, but I was expecting eggs from these pullets. I bought them at auction 4 weeks ago and they were fully feathered. Lots of pics!!
Does anyone have any idea on how old these might be? I have heard you can tell from combs and wattles, but these are my first...
Haven't gotten any eggs from any of my pullets yet. Getting very impatient. lol I just don't think they were as old as I thought. They came from auction so very little information. If I decide to add more, which I am sure I will much to the hubbys dismay, I will order from a hatchery so I know...
I never knew there was anything but a white leghorn. So after the replies I looked up pics of the red leghorn and that is def my little "Ellen"! Thanks so much. I will post a picture if I can. I took some, but cannot find the cord to transfer to my computer.
Thanks again
I had my bunny in with my chickens and there was no problem between them. The vet says coccidia is species specific so I am not sure that chickens can get it from rabbits and vice versa. Both the hens and bunny were adults when placed together. They were fenced in a 1/4 acre area. Now though, my...
I have 2 cornish x's, 2 RIR's, and don't know what the other 4 are, but they don't roost at night and they don't go in the coop during the day or even check out the nesting boxes. I did put a golf ball in the boxes, but no one seems interested. Will they start to lay soon (judging by pics) do...
Also if you know someone with a breathing problem such as asthma that has a nebulizer machine and the albuterol for it, that will help also if it is an URI. Which it probably is, kittens get them frequently when too young to leave mom. Just hold the mouthpiece in front of him/her and let it...
turned out she was just all scratched up from being in the pen with the other girls at the auction. A littly babying for a few days and now she is good as new!!
