My chickens still are not laying.

I have looked for alternative laying areas and I don't see any. I am pretty sure they are not laying at all as I have tested the hens. On cackle hatchery they say the way to know if they are laying is to feel around and there should be a bone that the egg must pass through. If they are laying...

My chickens still are not laying.

My chickens (Production Red, Buff Orpington, Bard Rock, and various sex links) have not been laying well all year and it is getting annoying. When the year first started off we had so many eggs we didn't know what to do with them all. I have 70 hens and they would easily give me 3-4 dozen a...

    Chickens will never lay.

Sorry I haven't replied in a long time. My chickens decided to make me look crazy by laying an egg in one of the nest boxes. It is kind of a YESSSSS moment and a felling stupid with the timing. But I haven't gotten another egg yet. It is two days after the first one. I must admit that one...

    Chickens will never lay.

I hatched some production reds on Feb, 5, 2013 and have been fighting to get them to lay to this day. I fed them chick starter for 3 months after they hatched and transitioned to 16% protein sweet feed for the next 6 months. I switched them over to layer pellet as they were not laying. I...

Yes all my turkeys were stated on chick starter as they were all raised with chicks. I will offer them some bugs and see what they do. It is hard to resist a giant juicy grasshopper.

My chicken ate so much he is having trouble breathing

He didn't make it sadly. He died shortly after i posted the thread. Didn't get to him soon enough i guess. However if anyone has more ideas feel free to post them. This might happen again someday and it would be good to know what to do in the future. Thanks for your help.

My chicken ate so much he is having trouble breathing

It is one of my buff orpingtons. He ate so much that he fell over and is gasping for air. His craw is packed tight. I ate scratch grains or poultry grains depending on what they call it. Is there any way i can dissolve what is in his craw and give him relief? What do you suggest?
