This is "Funny" crowing... he's our 15-week Australorp mix... we're hoping to help him find a forever home... we are prohibited from having roosters in our town.
The kids knew this was a reality, but now that the rubber hits the road... We just wanted them to understand what goes into producing the food they eat. We've been raising small gardens and this seemed like the next baby step towards understanding the food cycle on a practical level.

Thanks for the reply; I've been looking for homes for a few weeks and there really aren't many options that I've found. The boys have had a pretty good run thus far but chicken noodle soup looks like their ultimate fate. I just want to try and put off their execution if at all possible, but I...
Thanks! The challenge is that the kiddos are really "attached" to the boys, and for now, they are pretty gentle and friendly and play with the kids...
I'm not opposed to consuming them (as I think it's a real-life lesson that they should experience), but mom is weirding the kids out, so it's a...

We are in NKY, but I grew up in Lexington. Our eggs came from a family friend who keeps a flock in Spencer Co. and lent us an incubator and all the gear to hatch these chicks in August. We thought it would be great for the kiddos to witness the miracle of eggs hatching and then return them to...
Sadly, the city ordinance explicitly prohibits roosters within the city... Probably a silly question, but we had our male cat and dog neutered, is there any way to neuter them? Likely there is little return on that investment, and I doubt there are many caponizing clinics for roosters near by!!!
