In the mountains above Denver, Colorado
We buy Modesto Milling also, for $40 per 50# bag of soy-free organic chick starter. Although it's challenging having to drive to Denver for feed (about an hour away), I am thrilled to avoid the shipping charges for soy-free from Texas, as well...
I'll try to make a long story short. I have 8 chicks, 3 days old, mixed breeds. 1 of the buff brahmas got a bad pasty butt, I had to wash her twice (in 2 hrs) b'cuz I couldn't get it clean on the first try. Even with 2 washes, I had to really work at some dry parts. When I finally got her...
My starter feed didn't come in, even though it was ordered w/FedEx delivery 5 days ago. I now have 8 chicks that are 2 days old, and no food. I have offered them some mashed. hard-cooked egg yolk, but they are only vaguely pecking at it. Is there anything else "household" I can safely offer...
I am brand new to chickens, but our friends/neighbors have been at it for about a year. We started feeding them watermelon (rind and all!) and egg production in the following day or two goes way up - the first batch that we counted, 12 chickens laid 14 eggs in one day!
savingpurple - You SO should have stolen my thread - you got way more replies!! LOL

I am planning on insulating, probably with foam...
This thread is hilarious! I am just getting started, and was having so much fun thinking of names for the hens that naming the coop never occurred to me!
To discover egg...My husband (he is a native) told me that the outdoor rink that was next to Joslin's is long gone. But they have one in the new Belmar shopping center on the site of old Villa Italia.
Hi! I am new to chickens, and in fact don't actually have any yet, but have been watching our friends' flock since they started a year ago. I am now thoroughly addicted!
I live high in the mountains (at 9,000 ft) above Denver with my husband, a white cat and a large black dog. We have...
