I’m fairly new to chickens. I’ve had my flock for almost a year now. This is my second go around though. The first flock I had was completely wiped out by hawks. Like nothing left at but some feathers. I had 4 hens survive out of the 15. I got some more chicks and now I have 11 hens a little...
Hello again! Ok duck people help me out here. Last summer I bought two female supposedly pure welsh harlequin ducks and one femal Pekin. I have a male Pekin. I thought it would be fun to try and hatch some eggs so I put three eggs in an incubator (one from each duck) and all three ended up...
Assuming that you said 4 weeks, that she's been sitting on them for 28 days.
She most likely abandoned the nest because she felt threatened when you moved her.
If you have an incubator I would try putting the eggs in there for a few days and see what happens
I don't think the other adult ducks...
So Im knew with broody ducks and I have a welsh harlequin who's been sitting on two eggs for at least 4 weeks now. She's been doing so good barely leaving the nest. I hatched some ducklings from and incubator and they are about 4 weeks old now. The big ducks still pick on them pretty bad so I...
I am turning them by hand 3 times a day. I'm glad they are okay! I have three in there right now and they all look the same. I hadn't seen anything about them growing on one side like that so I got nervous haha. Thanks for the help :)
So we decided to try and hatch some of our ducks eggs this spring and they have been doing great up till today. Todah is day 10 and they look kind of funny. I'm sure if it's a blood ring or if the embryo is growing attached to membrane...or maybe I'm just paranoid and everything is fine. The...
They have a house they can go into the second picture is just some straw bales I put up for extra wind breakers. It seems like I heard somewhere that ducks/chickens won't lay for a while after they've been moved to a new place. I just didn't know if anyone else had experienced that.
I just recently bought three females two welsh harlequins and one Pekin. I introduced them to my male Pekin. The girl I bought them from said they were excellent layers. She showed me their nest and there was quite a few eggs (it looked like she hadn't collected in a while). I've had them for a...
I keep a pan of food outside or their house during the day and pick it up at night so it doesn't get soggy for water I use a kiddie pool. I also recently have been keeping a small bowl or food and water in their house. The house is actually a chicken coop so there are nestling boxes that are off...
