    Diarrhoea

Have you wormed yours? I'm trying to decided whether to worm mine even though the poo sample didn't indicate worms as its the only thing left I haven't tried.

    Diarrhoea

I tried it, it didn't help my chickens diarrhoea but did no harm either so worth a try.

    Diarrhoea

I did this for two days it didn’t help. I don’t thinks she’s egg bound as by day 4 I think she would be going down hill fast. She is perky and energetic you wouldn’t think any was off.

    Diarrhoea

Hi sorry I’m in England. I actually treated for coccidiosis and it didn’t help. I feed them Allen and page layers pellets. It’s only 1 chicken out of 4 and she is active the only things that shows she is off is she hadn’t laid an egg in 3 or 4 days (she is 2 year old so this is worrying) and she...

    Diarrhoea

Two of my chickens have had diarrhoea for months and I have literally no idea as to why. The sicker of the two had antibiotics from the vet which didn’t help she sadly she then got killed by a fox. The other chicken has a red comb is active and eating but is doing these spurts of that are almost...

    Looking for advice on breeds.

Yeah I am mindful of the space in the coop. I would never put 6 it it. With 4 they was a fair bit of space so I’m hoping 1 Silkie and 3 hybrids we be ok as my amber star is a slime line bird. I’m thinking not a Orpington because there too big for the coop. I would love a cube but my Silkie won’t...

    Looking for advice on breeds.

Thank you for the reply, sadly I haven't seen that Hen advertised in any of the near by farms near me. I will keep my eyes peeled though as it sounds lovely. Weirdly we have never had any issues with predators until now. We have dogs which tends to keep most wildlife away and a pretty secure...

    Looking for advice on breeds.

Last week two of my flock got killed in the middle of the day by I assume Mr Fox. We have since made a new door as that was the weak point. I know have 1 Silkie and a Amber star. I am looking to add two more hybrid hens but looking for calm friendly breeds. Thankfully the Silkie can hold her own...

    Chicken grit

I need to raise the calcium levels of my chickens (2 silkies and 2 hybrids) as two of them are laying eggs with soft shells. I already have insoluble grit. I am looking at oyster shells and am a bit confused. Should I mix the oyster shells with my other grit or should I give both separate. Also...

    Feeding Beryl’s friendly Bacteria

I have no idea never used it before. It says either syringe or mix it into the layers pellets but I’m concerned they might not eat the pellets with it mixed in because I recall people saying it stinks so just wondered if anyone had tried mixing it.

    Feeding Beryl’s friendly Bacteria

Has anyone managed to feed Beryl’s friendly Bacteria by putting it in food rather than syringing it? One of my chickens has just finished antibiotics so need to get some in her but if mixes with food works I would rather not stress her out by doing more syringing.

Giving a Baytril to my chicken

Thanks that’s helpful to know. I will give in less water and may try in food if she gets too fed up of the syringe. So far it seems to have made her worse as the crop is even more horizontal 🤦🏽‍♀️

Giving a Baytril to my chicken

It’s 2.5% the vet weighed her and said 1ml but that I have to mix it with 4 ml of water which ends up being two small syringes worth. I would to mix it with less water but I don’t want to burn her throat. I would also love to give on bread but again I don’t know if you have to dilute it and then...
