This chick had been doing fine as far as we could tell as well as other 9. Noticed her today standing in corner, fairly still and looking down...slightly puffed feather look to her...eyes open but head in somewhat down position.
We've just been checking her...has whitish/off-whitish ? (poop...
Thanks...called (human ;) Poison Control Center. I learned something new. They no longer induce vomiting in any situation in humans according to the lady there. I guess should not surprise me perhaps.
Thanks for you advice...will do that...watch and see (& pray a little :)
Oh...if it helps/matters. These are the beads found in the walls of a water softener. We had an old one sitting in a barn. (Evidently the softener had frozen & burst this past winter.) Barn door must have got left open. It's closed & cleaned up somewhat now.
Just a short time ago, my daughter found our chickens eating Ion Exchange Resin Beads. Think polymer beads, I think. Should we induce vomitting?? And if we should...how/what is simplest way to do that? And do we need to follow up with something else?
Thanks!
Our dog, for the first time, got out of the house to see one of us coming in, saw the chickens & chased one of our RIR until...she decide (with the whole family yelling at her) she'd better stop. We are now in search n' rescue mode it seems as we are searching the last barn we saw them go...
Hi,
I posted 4 weeks ago today when we found our them 11 week old cock lame on one leg.
Three days later he wasn't using either. Since, we have had him on anti-biotics for about 2 -21/2 weeks (just coming off this past Friday or so). At first we could find no external symptoms as far as...
Yay got "Reply" to work!
Forgot one other 'symptom' though I don't know if I notice this morning.
After he would take a drink my daughter & I would notice a sound..hard to describe, but a bit like a gurgle or human digestion noises. NO other signs I can see of any respiratory problems..not...
* First I apologize for starting a new thread on the ongoing topic of my almost 12 week old cock. Whenever I click on respond I get the same message something to do with "AJAX..not parsed ..JSN" and have not figured out how to correct.
Thought I'd list facts as I know them and see if anyone...
I posted on Mon or Tues about our 11 week old Barred Rock Cock who suddenly wouldn't walk on left leg. We put him in his own 'cage' but left him in coop with his door shut. We go out each feeding time and hold food & particularly water for him to drink. He has been eating and drinking, but I...
When we went out to feed our chickens today...all just about at 11 weeks old.. the Barred Rock cock was laying down, but when he got up to go to food we were bringing he was limping. He did NOT have a limp last night. He was happy to drink when my daughter brought water over to him. He has eaten...
Well, I admit I did not check this morning... which probably defeats the point, but I'm not feeling real confident about checking crops...don't know that I'm feeling the right thing or else I feel like I need to compare with another when I feel some of them. Don't know that I'm feeling right...
Gita,
I think that the chick I was talking about two evenings ago is doing okay...other than now the kind of bare-ish spot on shoulder that I thought was fine-- just part of developing feathers & maybe naturally bare place -- is now bigger.
The Rhode Island well I guess she is okay. Will maybe...
Thank you for the direction. I searched "crops" on this site last evening & found a thorough article to due with impacted & sour crops. It helped with location. So, we took away the food around 11/11:30 ish last night, but left water in. My youngest daughter (just 12) & I went down to check them...
Thank you for your help & suggestions~ We really appreciate...but back to the exact crop location or knowing that is what I'm feeling...that's where my question is. And how do you know it's impacted...by feel somehow? I rub finger..follow down neck, so is it right after neck pretty much or a...
