PLEASE HELP! ALMOST 5 WK. OLD CHICK STRETCHING NECK, HOLDING MOUTH OPEN...CROP PROBLEM??

Well, I admit I did not check this morning... which probably defeats the point, but I'm not feeling real confident about checking crops...don't know that I'm feeling the right thing or else I feel like I need to compare with another when I feel some of them. Don't know that I'm feeling right thing or maybe, interpreting correctly.
I put the food in & went back to bed for awhile. Maybe I should try again & try checking in morning...OR just put it back in and see if it seems any don't seem perky or otherwise bothered). RIR actually might be better (or my perception of her is ;)

They are quiet now & we haven't had light on them at night for several days now, which helps with sleeping more at night. But, I'm afraid they will wake up at night & want to eat.

Do you usually do this with adult chickens in a coop...taking away food at night I mean? Or is that only if you suspect crop issues?

Thanks again so much for time & help. I'll let you go. Bedtime here in IN.

My adult chickens don't have food at night, and since they can't see in the dark, they wouldn't eat it anyways. My chicks, however, have a red heat light that I think they can see by and they seem to eat at least in the early mornings.
