Busy and trying to catch up on life. Covid hit my house for the first time in December and it messed me up badly. The last two months I have finally been able to get out and start working on my property. The chicken yard was in bad need of repair so that has eaten a chunk of my time. My chickens...
Thank I wondered if it had to do with parents being crosses but it's so shockingly different than all the crosses I've seen. It's a fiesty adventurer ❤
I apologize for the binocular photos.
My Clover hatch two babies today! The other 8 eggs died at least a week ago so we were excited when she brought these two nuggets to us this morning. Clover and Edgar (dad) are Rouen Khaki crosses and one of the ducklings looks like them when they were tiny...
Okay can anyone confirm if this is a Golden Lace Wyandotte pullet? It seems more black compaired to the other two I have, they also don't have the white spots. I have looked at so many pictures I'm cross eyed and probably overthinking.
Possibly a rooster too based on it's behavior, lots of...
I have been trying to incubate using styrofoam incibators and have had no success. All my reasearch has lead me to the MannaPro 360 and it looks the most promising. Living at a high desert elevation controlling humidity is a challenge so I feel this incubator would fix that issue.

Chickens are curious climber so keep all potential climbing aids at least several feet away from the fence. Clipping one or both will stop flying but not jumping. I have three hens that will jump straight up four feet to reach a ledge or whatever helps them reach their goal. Don't let it stop...
Has anyone used Praire Pride Safe-Guard pellets (Contains 0.5% Safe-guard Fenbendazole) for
worming chickens? Last year a few girls helped themselves to the Dumor pellet goat wormer and were fine but I don't want to intentionally use something that may harm them.
Sorry if I sounded snippy, I am also dealing with the pain of my own broken foot. The doxycycline should work but it's a good reminder that I need something stronger on hand too.
I am thinking the same thing. When the scab was off this morning and I pushed on the lump between her toes, a lot of blood came out of the opening.
Even though she is a skinny four pound leghorn when she jumps off the top perch it sounds like a ten pound stone hit the floor. That perch is going...
