    Drake probs, mating

I am going to let them sort out their differences without interfering (unless I'm worried someone will be injured) and see how it goes. It really does distress me but not as much now that I know ducks do this. Thanks for your advice.

    Drake probs, mating

Thanks Miss Lydia, It helps to know it's normal. I go out their flapping my arms ans shouting "I'M IN CHARGE!" and it seems to help. I am keeping them separated for now. Do you keep them separated at night too? I keep them penned together and it seems to go ok. I really just want to get rid of...

    Drake probs, mating

Hi There. I have a young Muscovy drake and he's just come of age so to speak. Occasionally he gets overly aggressive and chases my Pekin drake around and assumes the mating position with him. Is that normal duck dominance behavior and inevitable when you have more than one drake? I find it...

Silver Laced Wyandotte hen or rooster?

I think that handsome boy is a roo.

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

I got these muscovy from a farm and did not see the conditions they were living in. There were goats and horses, that much I know. I believe they were treated as wild animals so it would make sense that it would be a big parasite problem. I am just going to do a fecal. I found a test at petco...

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

Thanks for the encouraging words: Amiga and Haunted55. I ended up worming using Wazine 17 to deworm them and will dose again in 10 days. I thought it had cleared up because I hadn't seen any bloody stool for the last two days but now I found another one. I wonder if I should have gone with...

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

I believe that is debris but the more I read and think about what you've all said parasites really make sense. You've all been so helpful. I feel a fool but didn't know I should be worming them once a year so I'm going to follow Haunted55's protocol. I will post as necessary but I will...

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

I will do the worming. Here are the photos requested. Please tell me if you have any ideas. Even if you don't have any ideas, let me know that you've looked? It doesn't really help that my deck is red. It's the only place I can get a good photo of the poops.

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

I wonder, I know that the blood can be an indication that there is a parasite but is there another way for me to tell if that's what the problem is? It's one duck out of five that has bloody stool and everyone is acting as content as can be. Also, has anyone experimented using Diatamacious...

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

I'm doing the antibiotics as a precaution. If I were to do the 'safeguard' at another time how would I go about doing it? I have one Pekin, a White Layer, and two Muscovy Ducks, and one Drake.

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

Thanks for the replies and the info about parasites. Do you know if I can do the antibiotic and the worming at the same time? I've done a little reading about the Ivermectin. It is only the one duck that has blood in her stool. The rest are pooping normally Which makes me think the calcium...

    Muscovy, blood in feces.

Hi Everybody. This is sort of a cross post from the Illnesses and Emergency's section. I didn't have any luck there. Basically I have a muscovy who has bloody stools. I started the entire flock on Oxytetracycling HCI on Friday and it's Tuesday today. She's still got blood in her stool but...

    Bloody Muscovy Duck Poo.

I wonder if I should have posted this in the Duck section instead of here.

    Bloody Muscovy Duck Poo.

Hi thanks in advance for looking at my post. I'm feeling anxious about this one. I read a couple posts about blood in duck droppings and treatments for coccidiosis treatment but I felt the need to post anyways, just because I'm nervous about it. Basically, I got some Muscovy ducks a while back...

Attn: Muscovy Duck Keepers; wing clipping advice wanted.

So, they flew off at the first opportunity. They're wily little creatures. I've recaptured two and the third is hanging around but she's on to me now and flies up out of reach when ever she sees me. Hopefully she'll figure out this is home and I'll catch her eventually. Thanks for all the advice.
