What gives? Sex link has always been bossy but today she had the rock trapped in the nest and had bloodied her comb (blood on the sides of the nest box and everything).

What can I plant for the chickens to eat? I have five laying hens and am in an urban environment, space is very limited. I do have some grass and they love it (not to mention all the raking they do in the mulched beds). Can you plant clover or something that they'll just go nuts for?
Dan
They are not separated and I don't really have a facility in which to quarantine them. All five of my chickens have been living together for pretty much their whole lives, though. I got all five at the same time (48 hours ago!).

Can anyone tell me what I need to look for? And I'm in ignorant newby so please be explicit. In other words, please provide instructions like this, "Hold the chicken in this fashion. Turn it over or around to look at the vent, etc."
I'm just making that up but I am expecting that this kind...

Looking to buy 4 or 5 barred rocks, rhode island reds, or combinations thereof, all hens! Would like them laying but will take younger.
Any suggestions?
I live in the city and the only place I can put a coop is on concrete. I have heard of the deep litter method and I'm fine with that for the coop but what about the run? If I put any kind of shavings down, they'll get complete soaked the first time it rains. Should I raise the run so that the...
I agree with your suggestions. If I split it up like that, I think I might cap it at no more than 9 or 12 per property. So, six per single family residential property, three per household on multi-family properties, but no more than 12 total. What about apartment blocks, though? I'll try to...
This is the Columbia, South Carolina statute, which I have revised. Brackets indicate a deletion - underlining an addition. Only 4-33 and 4-34 have any changes. The current code appears to be internally inconsistent inasmuch as 4-33 prohibits keeping fowl and livestock but 4-34 allows it if...
