Hello,
I joined backyardchickens last year...such a great site. I have 18 chickens,
....golden comets. I got them in the mail a day after they were born. My girls lay an egg most every day, usually I get 16 to 18 a day, sometimes i get huge double yolk eggs...
I hatched my eggs from someone I bought eggs from last spring/summer on BYC. She had an auction but I can remember her name. But they hatched out looking exactly like the ones in her photos! Mine are pretty wild birds, they mostly free range all day and are afraid of people but they are not mean...
All right now I'm swooning! My hens came from camelot farms, eggs I hatched out last year! The rooster came from another girl Tina, in Delray, WV. This was my first batch of eggs from the young group and all 9 hatched! Boy was I surprised!!!

white+black= blue

black+splash= blue
Blue+blue= 25% black 25% slash, 50% blue
does this mean you can breed white roo or hen to a black and get blue? Genetics confuse me!!! Or only if they are carrying a certain gene?
That wonderful news! Do they usually stay blue? Its only 2 days old? This is the color I was hoping to get from my silkies! Or splash! Love both of those colors!!! Evil!!!! What???? lol I don't even care, I love it already!!!
Do you know anyone in eastern panhandle of WV that wants some Houdan Roo's. They are under a year and breeding. This is the offspring of a Mottled houdan and an easter egger!
Only a few hours old and asleep!
This is one of the roo's
Bad photo taken about 1 month ago.
hello,
It looks like a gray color, I have black chicks and it is much lighter than the blacks. Would you call this blue? I know its still to young to know what color it will turn out to be when its an adult. But I love this color!
I have black, white, and splash hens.
thank you!

look how sweet chicken people are! Everyone lurking around waiting to hear the good news and see a picture of the new baby! Everyone pulling together because of a little egg that was broken! If only everyone cared this much! The world would be a better place! Cant wait to see the baby!!!!
Good luck Dan! I was able to get a hold of randy at In. Warehouse, I'm going to order extra parts in case mine would break down in the middle of a hatch. Like I said, this was my best hatch rate ever and I am so pleased. I had 100% hatch rate, the 3 eggs left over were not fertile, from another...
Hi, Last year I drove myself nearly nuts, had 4 different thermometers in the Hovabator and each one had a different reading! This year I used the one from incubator warehouse and it worked out very well. Didn't have room for more than that anyway! LOL
I know this is an older topic, but I fired up my incucube 3 weeks ago and I have had the best hatch ever! Temp hardly ever moved, very easy to keep humidity in check, the new turner they sent me worked great!
I think last summer was just too hot, and i was using shipped eggs. The eggs I used...
