    chicken has its good days and bad days, should I do something?

    For the past 3 months one of my chickens has been acting odd. She will be fine and happy, have good poop, fly and run around, but then another day she will be lethargic, wont eat, only drink, poops white liquid. Then the next day everything is fine, good poop, eats and drinks, but then 4 days...

    Moaning Hen

    It does seem like she is having trouble breathing in and out. I put electrolytes in the water in case of respiratory problem. I will see if she keeps the moaning up if she is just having trouble digesting. Thanks for the insight.

    Moaning Hen

    Yesterday one of the hens got a toad and ate it hole and this morning she is moaning. She is active,pooping,eating and drinking fine. She moans about every breath she takes. She also laid her egg. Is she just sick or should I take action to do something?

    HEAT LAMP

    I have used a red heat lamp in the coop ever since they were chicks. I haven't had any problems but insulation is more important than heat to keep them warm, but I also use it to get the chickens to come inside.

    Hi! New backyard chicken owner

    I have a neighbor who has some silkies and some orpingtons and they get along fine. I have all one breed but if you have all different breeds they probably won't gang up on one.

    Whole Corn Vs Cracked Corn, What do you use?

    I give both and I think cracked corn it is easier on the digestive system because my hens won't eat the big pieces of whole corn. I give corn, layer feed, and some different kinds of seeds.

    What's the deal with chickens and meat, anyways?

    We feed our chickens meat once in a while and I now others who do it much more often and the hens still lay and act normal. Today I gave them some left over hamburger and they seem fine when I checked on them and they loved it.
