    Good idea thank-you.actually the box has a wood plank that folds up they use it as a perch but it big enough to block the nesting box.......duh! I always wondered why it was built that way. that should work.

    we had one pipping for about 24 hrs and decided to help it out did we make a mistake? it was bloody and now doesn't seem to well. it's still curled up but its breathing. dam I should have just waited, we feel horrible.

    just got a three mo. old americana rooster just wondering if anyone knows about this breed? Are they mean noisy etc.? By noisy I just mean crowing all night long. I here roos sometimes in the distance at all hours. Did we make a mistake taking this guy home? He is very good looking though.
