My wife and I would never turn away any animals. She doesn't really like cats but even took a few in and nursed them back to health after a fight with something. we wound up keeping them for another 10 years. -

Yes, I keep the hose handy, they eat almost all the grass where I blocked them in last night. Drank all the water too. -

I'm 66 and have raised animals my whole life, from Pigeons, chickens, ducks, ferrets, skunks cats and dogs, It cost me a lot to bring my dog home with me from Germany. I understand their situation. I hate people who just drop animals. when we lived in TN it seemed like we would find new dogs or cats weekly. Luckily some of our neighbors had small farms and took them in. The geese are following the local ducks everywhere they go. Maybe things will work out. Still keeping an eye on them...
