It was born like this. It's like the legs are in frog position. It tries to move it's legs, but they just flip out on both sides. Is this at all spraddle leg? or worse... cull? or try to splint?
ugh! Born like this... help me figure out what needs to be done.... I left it alone all day, can't move... it tries to walk with it's legs but the legs just fly out from it's sides...
Thanks you guys... she can't move at all. When she pushes her legs out, they go out the sides... so yeah, I was hoping if it is something, it would be a spraddle-leg type of fix...
Chick hatched out with legs that look like they are in a frog-like position. Heard of that? I'm hoping for the best and going to wait and see once it is dried, but usually the feet appear to be tucked up in the front more when they are born. These are on the sides and he/she absolutely can't...
aw thanks you guys
Now that I remind myself with RIR chicks look like - I think I accidentally had RIR crossed with ameraucanas for two of the eggs... one of my RIR hens must be laying a darker egg than the other two.
The "orange" chicks - they look alike except one has red on it's beak...

Yep - I have two of them, and for my first hatch, everything was VERY stable. I found if I only put water in the two center wells (not the outside one) during hatch, the humidity stays right at 65% and goes to 70% when there are little bodies running around (with the plug out the...
I crossed them - barred rock hens with ameraucana roo.
I ended up with three black (with no white/yellow on their heads) and two that look more like ameraucana but they are ORANGE. This surprised me... anyone else have similar results or did I somehow mix up what kind of eggs they were!

You're not kidding... What is it about hatching chicks that you can't stop staring even if you know, it's another 24 hours at LEAST... My first batch, I can't stop checking on them, and then this batch due Thurs, again, it's like the novelty didn't wear off earlier in the week, I can't...

Just hatched 11 between yesterday and today (still waiting on 3 from that batch) but I have another batch that I expect to hatch on Thursday and/or Friday of this week...
4 ameraucanas and 4 black copper marans. Two of the marans are already rocking...
I'm definitely not giving up on those last 3 (well, this evening makes fully day 21 so the others hatched on day 20)... I may end up with 13/14 -- two of them are fully pipped (i.e., have a good hole) now... just need to zip...
