I know its a lot to ask for birds your not making money on, but do you have any pics. I might be interested in one for breeding in my flock, but i need to be able to see some things more clearly like leg color, hackle color, and tail color. Also, hows the size.

His faults are as i see, too large of comb, not enough breast, too much black in the hackles (but all males basically have that), and the beard should be black not white.

Are the wheaten birds that result from blue wheatens technically a split blue? (genetic newby here)
No they are not, Wheaten/Blue Wheaten genetics work the same as b/b/s genetics. The Bl gene which causes black to be diluted to blue can be given in either 0,1, or 2 copies. In the case...

Wow, we just sold some Ameraucana purebred 6 wk or so old chickens to someone who is using them for backyard chickens. They did not have their beard or muffs yet. Also, one of them was born in Jan and hated to let her go but she had not gotten a beard. Wanted to use her for showing in...
Absence of beards and muffs is not that uncommon because it is a dominant triat, so a heterozygous bird will still show a beard and muffs, but if two heterozygous parents are bred together 1/4 of the offspring will be clean faced.
Yes it is a Columbian Leghorn. No, color/pattern is not part of what makes something a breed. As far as defenition of a breed goes, I was going to get to that. Basically, a breed is defined by a certian set of definable charecteristics that it must meet, such as bone structure, size weight...
Just wanted to make an interactive lesson on what it means when people call something a breed. I know there are several breeders on here who could answer the question quite easily, but I would like some of the novices to answer the questions, so that I can clear up the problems beginners are...
