Could I possibly get some oppinions on this Wheaton Pullet? She is 10 weeks old, and has quite a bit of black in her wings. Is it to soon to decide on wether to keep her as a breeder, or to stick her in the layer flock? If its not to soon, would you recomend removing her from the breeders when she is of age, or would you use her in a breeding program? I'm new to Ameraucanas, and am aiming for as close to SOP as I can get. She is the only pullet with this much black, and I am feeling a little dumbfounded at what to do with her.

You don't want any black in the secondaries as seen there. You don't want black on her back, either, as seen. Where black is a MUST, yet so rarely seen enough of at, is the tail. I'd let her grow though. Wheaten females of almost any breed take a while to achieve their final color. Marans especially will trick the owner into thinking their chests are just too dark or mottled for months until they're about 5 months.

Thanks guys! I will definately let her finish growing up! Iether way I doubt she will go anywhere. The only one that wont be staying with me is that cockeral... and thats just because he is their sibling... I LOVE the leg color on these babies! They all are a nice shade of blue slate! And boy are they getting heavy!

I have decided to start breeding my Ameraucanas and get them as close to the standard as possible. I have really nice stock and would like some feedback on the eggs that they lay. Please tell me what you think about these eggs. They are very substantial eggs and can't complain on the size but what about shape and color?
