Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Larissa~ Yes, they came from Amy - I have six almost 3 week olds. What about the comb was it? Size? Color? Number of rows?
Thanks!

What Tyler said- 3 rows- boy- and it might be mroe pink. That might not show for another couple weeks though. Gotta have patience with these guys- I have been fooled more than once by late bloomers!

Example of my 6-7 week olds....

Pullet! (pretty sure...)

Cockrel #1! (Very sure) The three rows are very distinct. And its very pink compared to the first one. He's my favorite.

Cockrel #2 (i think...) His is pretty bright and more distinct than the pullet, but not as distinct as the first cockrel, but maybe his comb jsut isnt' as nice.

Hi everyone,
Not that new to this thread because I have been lurking and drooling over some white Ameraucanas but I have them now!

Ummm I think all 3 are roo's. The second picture has a nice comb. I would keep him for breeding.

I hope not! But time will tell for sure, right? I love number two's comb as well. He also has the nicest feathers so far anyway.

Thanks for the tips Larissa/Amy... I know I won't be able to tell for a few weeks yet, but was curious as to what aspect of the combs told the story... Size/Rows/Color etc...

The 1st pic looks like a cockerel.

Sorry. His comb is very wide and reddening. A sure sign of a cockerel in my experience. Cockerel #1 has great comb potential...one of many things that need improvement on this color.

If you don't have to get rid of them all, I would grow them out and see which has the best overall breeding potential.

Ok, I see what you mean about hte wider comb now! I was hopeful it was a girl since the comb is less pronounced and a lot less pink than the others. Boo. Should be some pretty roos though!

This evening I was feeding my Seramas and I heard a little squeakly, high pitched crow come from somewhere, I though it was my 'lil Serama boy, but I was standing right next to him so it couldn't be him. I then went into the brooder house and I knelt down by the brooder and I waited..and waited and finally one of my Bantam Lav Am roo crowed a ridicules little crow!

It was too cute!! He is barely even 3 wks old! Afterwards I carried him around on my shoulder while I fed my broodies!
