Yes she is! She’s in the brooder and her sisters are in our little coop. The big asshole chickens are in the big outdoor coop.
She’s still alive! Lonely but eating and drinking. I hope she survives the night. She’s the sweetest of this year’s chicks. 🤞 and we have already lost 4/9 of this order…
Help! We have chicks in a dog crate in our run. One of our big asshole chickens got one of the little girls and got her really bad 😭 I don’t know what to do - BluKote? What are our chances here?
Visible tendon and adipose, no bone.
I feel awful, I thought I had them secure enough
Ugh that’s what I was afraid of. We had one we culled from this batch that also had a damaged/injured leg...we culled her. The other was FTT. I’ll try the egg yolk. Thanks for replying!
Hi everybody. I have another sick chick from my batch of recently hatched. She is breathing really hard and making a clicking noise when she does so I am pretty sure it’s some thing respiratory. She also appears to have developed spraddle legs which I have braced but she is fairly weak and...
Hi everyone. This morning I opened up the brooder and found one chick down with an injured leg. She is still feisty and eating and drinking and peeping but I imagine she is in a lot of pain. She doesn’t seem to be able to o put any weight on it.
Can I splint this? Or another idea? I’ve seen...
Thanks for all this info Dobie! Very helpful points to consider. I booted her off the nest this afternoon and she went right back on. I’m going to see how she does over the weekend and go from there.
I’ve ordered 9 chicks, hopefully they will all arrive alive - 9 might be too many for her?
If I give them to mama, I could cordon off an area of the coop for them, but I would have to move her to do it - she’s in the nest box closest to the roosts 😖 but I could brood the chicks on their own in the coop with a heat plate. I have a setup ready to go for them that is pretty portable.
