It's not the hens I know that. They have produced with other roosters and been fine. I recently switched things up to find the problem. I think it's got to be the rooster;(
I have a beautiful partridge silkie rooster that I got a few fertile eggs from a mille d'flurre hen. They hatched but all 3 died after a couple days. No reason, and others in the same brooder all lived and thrived. So I decided to switch up my coops a little. The same roster has now...
I have 6 Indian duck runner eggs. Im on day 30 almost 31 and so far only 1 has hatched. 2 grew the wrong way and didn't survive. The person I got the eggs from stored them pointy end up so im thinking that's the problem with those.
1 has just finally pipped into the air sack. But the last 2...
I've been on backyardchickens for a while now but I guess I never introduced myself.

I had 2 babies hatch Friday. Both from a millie d'flurre hen, silkie roo. They both were both without function on one side. Couldn't stand or walk. The hen it's newer to me and not very friendly. Won't eat even im around. She seemed a little under weight when I got her but looks healthy now...
Thank you! He's really a sweet boy. I wish I could keep him. I already have a rooster and I'm not technically allowed any where I live. I hatched him from a shell and have held him from the beginning.
I have a beautiful silver bantam polish rooster thread was born in June. I've held onto it in hopes that I was wrong on the gender but sadly it's a roo and I can't keep it. Free to good home. Very sweet hand raised
I've posted this before but it's been a few months. For the longest time I thought this was a pullet but almost over night looks like a roo.
Thoughts?
Pretty sure Penelope is now Pendleton
I have a show girl that I noticed yesterday has goopy eyes. It's kind of clear maybe a little white. No yellow. She's the only one so im curious if the smoke outside from wild fires is affecting her?
Your probably correct. I've hatched many many eggs and this is a1st. I've had where the yoke wasn't totally absorbed but this yoke as. It wasn't coming from the navel, it was on the side of the belly. Glad I moved him out and quickly cleaned the incubator the eggs were in. They weren't due...
I had a chick hatch during the night and at 1st glance it looked fine. My son looked at it a little while later and asked my it had blood on it. So I looked and clearly it wasn't ok. I took it out and cleaned it up only to find a part of the chicks skin was mushy on the side if the chick...
