I had a chick hatch during the night and at 1st glance it looked fine. My son looked at it a little while later and asked my it had blood on it. So I looked and clearly it wasn't ok. I took it out and cleaned it up only to find a part of the chicks skin was mushy on the side if the chick. Like the skin didn't develop all the way. I tried to pat it dry but it was almost oozing (sorry nasty word) and blood. I put it into another incubator I had Just in case another hatched I didn't want it to be stepped on and didn't know why this had happened. After letting it sit a few hours I checked and it was barely moving and the goo was worse. Clearly it wasn't going to make it so I put it out of its mystery. Any idea why this happens? Anyone seen this before? Sorry got the icky pic...

Your probably correct. I've hatched many many eggs and this is a1st. I've had where the yoke wasn't totally absorbed but this yoke as. It wasn't coming from the navel, it was on the side of the belly. Glad I moved him out and quickly cleaned the incubator the eggs were in. They weren't due to hatch for a couple days so I was shocked he hatched so early. Just wanted to figure it out to prevent it from happening again. Thank you for the insight!
