I separated him from the others and put water (with vitamins) and food in the box. I also wrapped his leg and made a toe splint for him to keep the toes straight. I'm 100% sure he hates me right now. But hopefully it will give him time to heal IF it is even able to heal!
I've had leg issues with this chick before and I thought they were getting better. He was standing and walking with only a slight limp, but when I checked on him today and he won't even stand on it. He is;) on pine shavings, so slipping shouldn't be an issue. He's about 6 weeks old and his other...
I'm not sure what type of chickens I have. The brown one I hatched from some eggs I got from a friend.
And the other three I got from a feed store to keep the other one company.
The dark one in the back of the picture is a blue/gray color and still kinda fluffy (hard to tell in the picture)...
Update. He seems to be standing better but keeps holding his wing out. I checked all around his wing and I don't see any outside injuries. But he still wants to sit down all the time.
In the picture I have him fenced off but I could cut some holes in the side so he can see the others. I took him out of the sling last night after he tried to escape. I was afraid that during the night he would end up hurting himself trying to get out of it. His leg seems to be a little better...
My chick injured his leg somehow and I made him a sling to see if it will help. But he keeps trying to get out of it. What can I do to keep him in it. I'll post a picture of what I came up with originally.
I made him a sling to try and see if that will help. I made sure he had enough food and water that he can get to and to have him off the ground enough to let his leg stretch out. I'm pretty sure he hates me right now. I'll post pictures
My 4 week old baby chick has started limping. I noticed earlier today he was laying in a corner and didn't want to get up. When he did he kinda wobbled and sat back down. I went to check on him just a little bit ago and noticed that he doesn't want to put weight on his leg. His toes aren't...
One of my baby chicks eye seems to be runny and crusting up. I've put a warm compress on it to get the goo/crust off and that helps temporarily. It started out as being watery and now it's gotten to where it will crust up. When I wiped it this morning some clear goo came out and I put some...
My chicks are about a week old, and was wondering when I can let them start to play outside. (Supervised).
I live in Texas and it's a beautiful day out, could I take them outside for a little bit or are they not old enough?
After trying to hatch a few eggs only one survived. I eventually want to let it be with other chickens but have read that if they grow up alone they won't be able to socialize well with other chickens. Would it be best to buy a few more babies to kept it company and let it get used to other...
