    Silkie thread!

Hello! I have a silkie that is about six to seven months old. I was wondering for all you silkie experts out there.... do silkies do okay as do other chickens during the winter months? Do they get colder easier because of their type of feathers? It seems to me that they are not that thick or...

I am wondering if this is a rooster or a hen. Any ideas? It is 6 months almost, still chirping. It is skittish and sweet. Hoping for a hen!

    Silkie thread!

Thanks for the responses! I appreciate it. The home I got the silkie from said she/he got along with other chickens there, but that's likely because they were raised together... Pecking order

I have a similar question, I have two bigger sized 6 month old chickens (barred rocks) and then recently introduced a 5 month old silkie. The silkie is so docile and small and they did try to peck at her (or him) quiet a bit when I first got her. One pegged her in a corner and would not let up...

    Silkie thread!

Right. At what age do they start getting loud? I have two other chickens of a different breed a month older and their loud fine. The silkie is quiet and flutterly sounding.

    Silkie thread!

I have one black silkie- about five months and currently waiting to see if it is a rooster or a hen! It does make a fluttery long call like noise (very quiet like a chick) so was thinking that is an indicator it is a rooster? It also chirp chirps so not sure no eggs yet! Do silkie roo's usually...
