Fred and Ed
My name is Kevin Bell and I live in Spencerport,New York, just outside of Rochester.I am very excited to be a new farm boy.I grew up on a farm and have dealt with animals alot, but raising Silkie Chickens is kinda Cool....
My chickens names were Fred and Ethel,until...
I have another hen doing the same thing.Could it be that I have 2 roos and 2 hens left,so they may be getting too much....."Action"..The other one a month ago, died by the time i really noticed. She couldn't walk and the roo was still on top of her,so ,could that be why that one died and this one...
Hi, I picked up a vitam package for her, that has alot of stuff in it,and E is one of them. They didn't have selenium, except for horses and he said that it would be too strong for her,so i'll keep with the vitamins and electrolytes and if that doen't work,I'll have to get a neighbor to put her...
Yeah, Does anyone know why she screams when she poops.I noticed that and didn't even put it together until now.She just pooped and screamed while doing it.I am getting a ride from my uncle to get her the selenium and vit E,so hopefully things will get better, but,i'm still wondering about the...
I really appreciate all the help so far from everyone.I looked up selenium and found that its an element, usually derived as leftover of copper production, amongst other metals.I found a list of foods that contain selenium, and eggs, nuts, beef, chicken, and a bunch more are high in selenium.I guess...
Yeah,I asked my mom to pick me up some E,but I will call her back and ask her to get some selenium, but i'm not sure what that is.Like Selenium sulfide,or something.I know the name for some reason, but dont know how,or why I know it..Unless I read it on a bottle or can of something. The reason I...
Thanks,I am trying a vitamin supplement powder i used for a stray kitty that i found, and keeping the electrolyte fluids going to see what happens, she cant get any worse. If this doesn't work,I will get some of the e-caps,as I dont have that kind of stuff here.I will keep updating as she progresses..
Love your icon pic.Yeah,I dont know if I can even do it,no matter how.I am gonna keep trying with her throughout the next couple days,if vitamins and electrolyte liquids dont work,I may have to have someone do it for me.Her name is Maryann, and I feel so sad for her,its really killing me.But I...
Hi, My hen is 8 months and she seems to be paralyzed.I came out to the coop and she like, couldn't walk. She rolled down the walk and then the roo jumped on her and when he was done another hen started pecking her head.I thought maybe she was sick, but i've done everything for her and she cant...
Hey Everyone,
My sweet girl is eating(she like sweet potatoes from dinner),and shes drinking,But she is really lethargic. She looks like she keeps slipping off,but then moves her head again.I am really sad about her feeling bad and not knowing why.My vet doesn't do "farm animals".
thanks, but she's eating the corn now.She just can't get up and walk, should give her like a flea bath or something?I dont have much around for the chickens, although i do have kitty formula powder.Would that help.
I came out to feed them this morning and she like staggered out of the coop, like she was drunk, but she never lifted her body as she staggered. Then she was like falling over. The roo came over got on top of her and after that another hen came over and startred pecking her head.I brought her...
I have an 8 foot round small pond in my back with the ducks. If I put chlorine in it,because they poop ALOT in it, will they taste it and stop drinking it?I have to drain it all the time because even the filters cant keep up with the poop.I just dont want them getting sick from chlorine "or" poop...
Yeah, she is the most timid anyway.I thought that silkies wouldn't lay in the winter/cold weather,as it is here in western NY?Anyway, she seems to have settled down. The roo doesn't seem to fertilizing the girls yet.
Hi, My hen keeps making a noise like a baby crying. She does this non-stop and I am worried.I have 4 hens and 1 roo and they are all about 6 months old.Can anyone tell me if I need to worry?
