I have 2 stubborn broodies too! Not sure what to do. Both sat on eggs and none hatched. Ok fine, I don't want chicks this year but didn't want to fight w/ them so gave them eggs. So, now that no chicks hatched, I removed all eggs and both are still sitting on nothing! I can give them more...
I do have VetRx. Wonder if I should use. When he was lying down this morning I could see him breathing in and out. Like I haven't noticed that with my other chickens when they were lying down that I could notice them breathing.
Two days ago our rooster seemed fine. Yesterday I noticed he wasn't crowing and he was lying down occasionally when the girls were off on their own. Today the same thing only today his comb is floppy and it looks like it's turning blue. He had watery poop w/ white in it so he's getting enough...
Hi. I was wondering if this is normal w/ my young rooster. First, some background. We have only had hens for about 1 year. We had 3 total. This year we got 6 chicks from TSC and 5 ended up being roosters! So that brings us up to a grand total of 5 hens and, well, obviously too many...
Thank you. Yeah that's what I was thinking. I just wanted more experienced opinions. Hummmmm.....she is doing just fine and not acting sick or limping or anything. I just want to catch it early!!!
Hey guys,
This is the most recent post on bumblefoot here so I hope it's ok to post here w/ my question. Thanks for any help!
I noticed about 1 week ago our hen had a bump in between two of her toes. I assumed it was bumblefoot. She was not limping at all and acting normal. An inspection...
Hi Donna,
Yeah, I'm not really concerned about him eating at this point. The last time I saw him eat was the night before last in the coop. I'm just trying to give him water now and again. I don't really know how much is getting down him or how often I should be giving it to him, but I'm...
We've only had chickens for 1 year and no problems so I'm a bit inexperienced, but learning. But about 4 days ago he was acting off but we just kept an eye on him. Then he became lethargic and lying down alone outside (they free range). When I tried to pick him up he attempted to get away but...
Ok good idea w/ the Q Tip. Thanks! Yes, they will be separated from the adults. See but no touch. We are just going to put them temporarily in another old horse stall in our barn for now until I know what's going on. Thanks again!
Yes, my husband is picking up electrolytes as I type this. They are organic chickens and I don't want to give her anything that's not all natural. In lieu of not having the electrolytes I found a homemade recipe for it online and made it. Not sure if she drank much of it. I did try to give...
Thanks, I will. She is basically just hanging by herself and mostly lying down in odd places. Then she'll get up peck around a bit and lie back down. I did check her pretty good today. I will do another once over tomorrow. Thank you for your response. It's good to be able to talk to people...
Thank you. I really don't think it was any type of stress. We don't have problems with predators that I'm aware of at all. The weather has not had a sharp change either. The other chickens are fine. I put her in my tractor I built for my chicks to observe her while I worked in my garden...
