    My B.B.Red roosters were about 7 months when their 2 longer feathers grew over their tails. But my Red pyles were 5 months old when theirs started growing. It all depends on their genetic line. Some roosters tail feathers don't grow very long and they shouldn't be used for breeding.

    First of all I'd like to say that she should make a full recovery. I'm not too fond of putting neosporin on avian wounds. Try getting some betadine and mix it 50/50 with water and apply that 2-3 times a day. Rub it in good. A little blood is fine, but you don't want to start the bleeding again...

    Sounds like she got "water-logged". Feel of her crop and see if it is large and round and fluid filled. If she drank too much too quickly, this can happen very easily. Bubbles from the throat is a sheer sign of this, as the water is trying to come back up the throat from the crop and it coats...

    Timeline for a rose comb

    Rosecombs "rise" a lot slower than single combs, but more progessively than pea combs. There is a possibility that they are all females, because my golden sebright hen has just now grown a comb and she's nearly a year old.
