I can hear one egg peeping so fingers crossed! Problem is I didn’t realize I had a broody hen until she had already started sitting. Then the other girls layed some eggs and are behind
Well mom has decided that 8 chicks is enough and left the eggs. Is there anyway to salvage them without a incubator? I’ve got one of the chick warmers they go under. Maybe I can put the eggs under that? Or will it just cook them?
Omg
:gigLOL they r soooo CUTE, I'm afraid I need more.. like do I rush back out and get three more! Ts doesn't have runners often and I'm kindof afraid I picked three boys because I was trying to avoid grabbing pekins and the coloring on these was darker so I could tell they weren't those...
Im so sorry yes disappointing puts it mildly.. thank goodness I've had more good years than bad but introducing this nasty disease has definitely been a doozy. Now one of my old girls is sick and I've got to put her down. I've had her for almost 8 years... Definitely regret those chicks!
Im sorry to hear you have Marek's.. I ordered chicks from Chicken Scratch Poultry this spring and half of them have died. Fed up I just had one tested and just got my necropsy results back, yep Marek's. I of coarse don't know for sure they came infected (I didn't vaccinate) but after seeing...

I think I'm dealing with this awful disease now. I'm getting the next one that croaks tested so I know for sure. With my track record it won't be long. Going from big plans of breeding to 50% loss has been a huge disappointment. On top of I can't seem to eat my eggs without getting sick even...
Thank you for the reply and advice!! I was thinking of starting with 3 and will probably get a few ducks as well. im starting a orchard so maybe rotating them between those two areas will work so I don't have to weed eat around the trees, I hate weed eating can ya tell :)
We have a small creek that runs through a grassy area in front of our house that is a PAIN in the butt to keep the grass down with a weed eater. So originally I was going to get a couple of goats to keep the area cleaned up but it's really mucky and wet, I have jumped across it and sunk up to...
We have a lovely backyard flock of 3 Silkies, 2 Easter Eggers and 2 Barred Rocks...
Our chicken adventure started with 6 adorable fluffy Silkie chicks.
We quickly added 4 more chicks to the family 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Easter Eggers
They quickly outgrew my laundry room,
and needed to move...
