    Ataxic pullet

Thank you for the input! She became completely recumbent - I kept her inside, warm and had to syringe her food as she was losing weight daily. This lasted for a couple weeks and then she slowly started to regain strength in her wings and legs. She is now completely normal, bright and healthy. Is...

    Crowing hen

My 8 month old buttercup pullet has decided to start crowing. She has also started developing spurs. She is indeed a hen, this is no mistaken identity as she has female feathering, coloration and is a great little layer. At the moment, her crowing sounds like she is being strangled, it's more...

    Ataxic pullet

I have a 22 week old Sebright pullet displaying neurologic signs. We took her to our vet and he is completely stumped. Her only symptom of illness is severe ataxia - otherwise she is bright, active, eating, drinking and foraging with no respiratory distress, no sneezing, no coughing, no...

    Black Copper Marans "pullets"?

They will be 17 weeks on Monday. Still no sex feathers, but have the most developed/reddest combs and wattles I've ever seen on young pullets. I'm assuming they were correctly sexed as pullets and are just funky due to being hatchery stock. Thoughts? BCM #1 BCM #2

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

My gals made me wait 24 weeks and 2 days... Then three decided to lay today! No idea who laid the brown eggs but the pretty blue came from my Easter Egger!

    Black Copper Marans "pullets"?

I'll try and snap some more this afternoon but I don't think I'll be able to capture anything additional that will help sex them until they are old enough to start growing their hackle/saddle feathers. I guess it's the waiting game for now.

    Black Copper Marans "pullets"?

I wish that was the case but I bought them as chicks, I double checked my calendar - they were hatched October 15th, so they are 11 weeks and three days. There is no way they are older...I agree that their combs are big, they have been since the beginning. I hope it's due to being hatchery stock...

    Black Copper Marans "pullets"?

Thank you, yes, that is what my splash girls look like as far as comb development. My black coppers had bigger combs as three day olds :/
