Okay, I will ask him to try that. There's no guaranteed analysis of the feed, unfortunately. I am not sure if she's going to make it through the night.
She's never laid very much. Maybe 5 eggs when she was 1.5 years old or so, and 2 or 3 eggs the next year and none in the last year. I am not sure if the heat is an issue, to be honest. She comes from a long line of Chinese geese raised in Cambodia and it does not seem to be a problem for any of...
I'm sorry that I don't have more details (our goose-sitter is not a native English speaker) but apparently our four-year-old goose Sopheap has been sluggish for the last few days and sitting a lot more than usual, but still getting up and walking around. Today she is not getting up at all. She...
We are moving to the UK, but I think we will not have birds there. It is absolutely heartbreaking to leave our little flock and I don't know how long we will stay in our next place.
Thanks, @Miss Lydia. Is there anything we can do at this point? We are still here a few more days and can intervene if necessary. I really want them all to be happy. :(
I thought we'd bring them over, the old gander would beat our gander up a bit and establish the pecking order, and it would be...
We are moving countries and because we live in an avian flu area, we cannot bring our flock (1 goose, 1 gander, 1 drake, and 1 duck) with us. We've found a new home for them with a friend who also has a goose and a gander. All of the geese and ducks are about 4 years old.
Our gander is very...
She was only separated for the first few days. But she sort of separated herself because she was too busy caring for ten ducklings to hang out with her friends.
I think we are just going to get rid of the male muscovy because I can't stand watching him be such a jerk.
We have three muscovys, three pekin-types, and two geese. Previously the pekin ducks and the geese were tight and the muscovys were a little group of their own.
One of our muscovys just had 10 ducklings and after six or so weeks we gave them away. We noticed soon after that the mama muscovy...
Two Muscovy ducklings hatched and are doing well. Another duckling, possibly Pekin, was ALMOST there and I think got stepped on in the nest and died. One reason why a heavy, clumsy goose might not be a great choice for hatching ducklings.
We got a new Muscovy duckling that hatched last night and it can't open its eyes. I tried using a wet q-tip and can open his eyes with that, but then the snap back shut and he doesn't seem to be able to open them himself. Any suggestions?
I have a barometer in my house and the temperature is currently 90 degrees with 66 percent humidity, so I'd say outside, under the ducks/goose it should be very humid. But they also haven't had great access to water because the pond isn't super close to them and we've had a drought so it's...
