Hi ya'll
My roo, Golden Chick, is barking whenever I have him and his hen and his other friend Mr. Poopy Butt inside the coop. I have 6 new additions, all little chicks that are a month old with us, that I am transitioning them to start going outside. Since they are less than 5-6 weeks old, I...
I know this might be 7 years late to answer, but we just purchased four baby pullets with metal tags pieced on their wings. I wanted to answer this in case anyone else has the same problem.
It took both my husband and me to remove the tag. I held the chick and he removed the tag. You have to...
Finally got some photos of the chickens. Seems like when you want a photo, it's hard to get.
That's Mr. Poopy who I'm most worried about.
Here is Golden Chick who I feel may gotten infected as well.
Here is Dewy who I also think may be infected. Hard to tell in the photo, sorry.
He's hard to take a photo of but here it is. I'll try to take more photos later. The lighting doesn't help either. I would describe it as white spots. Their combs are still bright red but it looks a little dry with the white.
Is fowl pox treatable? And How do you treat it?
Just googled Blue Kote. I'm buying this right now! (thank you Amazon:bow!)
This seems like it's good to have no matter what.
Are there other sprays you recommend? :old
Thank you! I'll clean it tomorrow (it's 12:07 AM right now) I think I'll hold him with a towel. Luckily he's a heavier guy so he's easy to pick up (but not eager to it)
What is blue kote if you don't mind answering?
Hi I'm a little worried about my rooster's comb
I believe he was pecked and he has an open wound between the top spurs. At first, I noticed it was dirty with black dirt but now I notice that it has puss. I'm worried that it may have infected my other chickens because now I notice their combs...
Thank you for your reply! I appreciate your advice on not trying to hatch her first eggs! This is why I love this forum. Thank you! I'll get more pullets. Should they be younger than my hen (whose 6 months)?
I guess I should get more pullets first and slowly transition the roosters to go away...
My Hen Morty laid her first egg. I've never raised chickens so this was all new to me! Before she laid her egg, I notice she was more chattier than usual. She would pace around trying to find a nook to lay her egg. She laid her first egg on top of this small storage cube I keep outside. Luckily...
we got him from Tractor Supply we didn't notice that he had a severe case of pasty butt (rookie mistake) We didn't know what to do since it covered his whole bottom.. we thought he wasn't going to make it because well his poop will go on the side. The good news is that he grew out of it and now...
Well, that's my job title! I'm blessed enough to have a full-time job!
BTW men's bottoms refer to pants and short. I also work with bibs (overalls) and coveralls.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I was raised in the city (Houston) and I have very little experience to chickens. My husband and I moved to Fort Worth this year and wanted to start out a chicken coop business but first thing you need are chickens right? We first...
