Looked up lash egg and saw this line, "An early sign of salpingitis is consistently laying soft or wrinkled eggs." We have been getting wrinkled eggs from one hen for awhile, so this does make sense. Unfortunately, we don't know which one it is (we have about 30). Reckon we'll have to make it a...
A friend I give eggs to sent me this. So, I did not see it personally and therefore couldn't "autoopsy" whatever the heck that is. But, holy moly, it's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen! Anybody have any idea what it might be?
Sorry for subjecting others to it, but lordy, I'd sure like...
I buy Scratch and Peck feed which gets shipped in (no local retail). I just ordered a two month supply as a buffer in case the you know what hits the fan. And the more I think about it, I'll probably place another order like that after the first of the month when my bank balance crawls back up...
This is just my second year raising chickens, ergo, I'm making it up as I go along and really appreciate the advice I get here! This spring I intentionally ordered 2 roos from famously chill breeds, and kept the Jubilee Orpington fellow. He is super calm and crows only rarely. He is, as true to...

Hey,
There are some cherries in the fridge that are past their yum date. I want to offer them to the hens but am concerned that they'd sawllow them whole and that the pits might be an issue?
Thanks for the advice!
Hi, and Happy Thanksgiving!
In that I, like I'm sure many of us, got caught with romaine lettuce in the fridge when the great and absolute ban from the CDC came down today, I wanted to seek advice on whether or not it's OK to feed it to my pullets.
I'm a first-time chicken-keeper so I'm still...
They're not off the roost, they're all alone on the front roost, ergo my concern that they would be too cold all by themselves. It's lovely to have that concern belayed due to inbuilt chicken micro-climate. As in, they're not fat, just fluffy!
