I have always been very pleased with my cackle birds. I got a new shipment in this last Friday and it came with 52 babies. Lost one polish and a turkey. But I got 6 turkeys, 4 bourbon red, 2 black Spanish . 1 khaki cambell duck and the rest chickens. I got some Marans, Easter eggers, Polish...
Yes you do get males, all birds are sold as straight run only.. However I normally get only 25-40% males which is better then my hatching out my own eggs percentage lol
So last week I had 12 goslings hatch from a nest 3 eggs didn't hatch so I put them under a dif mom. Yesterday found a late bloomer. Since I have 4 momma geese there is a good chance it was just a late egg snuck into the wrong nest. So pulled the Lil guy/gal and put it the brooder with some young...
I have mixed feelings on ideal. My last order from them being a perfect example. I ordered 30 duccle chicks on special for 1.15 each a great deal I couldn't pass up. And 20 ducks at 2.00. 7 ducks and 17 duccle chicks were DOA. Called ideal asap they reshiped the very next week. All replacement...
Would actually be nice if they are sex links because I have a equal amount of dark red chicks and light chicks and maybe they won't all be boys lol, oh well if they are at least I can raise them for dinner lol
I got these as packing peanuts in a replacement order from ideal. Some are dark red, some are med red, and some are reddish with yellow heads and I'm at a loss
June is a nice time to brood because of the warmer weather they don't need to be in the brooder as long and can be moved outside that much sooner. And they can be very messy and very stinky fast but I consider it worth it :)
I have both turkeys and geese. I didn't socialize my geese a lot as babies and they aren't cuddly but they aren't aggressive either. Even my gander for the most part talks a bunch a crap but won't attack me. My turkeys on the other hand are amazingly social and have made me re evaluate just how...
I got mine from metzer, got a pair of sebastapols last year and have another order shipping out tomorrow for another pair of sebastapols and 4 pairs of fancy assorted . They will also let you mix goslings and ducks or order as few as 2
I just recently got into sebastapols. I got my first pair from metzer last year. Unfortunately I lost my male. I wish I has spent more time socializing my geese babies last year as they aren't love bugs but still very calm and have been quiet for geese. When I lost my male my husband let me...
I have a pair from metzer and I they are nice birds, the goose is broody and laid large eggs. Mine were white with blue eyes. I will say that size is kinda all over the place as two of friends got some last yr with me and while some are truly large some were just med sized.
I recently acquired two lavender Sebastopol geese and will be getting a white male to breed to them .. I think I will get blue babies but wasn't quite sure and was hoping for some clarification. Though honestly I'll be happy with any color just curious
