One of my hens seems to have a dried peice of poop covering her vent

I have a black sexlink hen who currently seems to have a dried piece of poop covering her vent. She seems to be in distress, and is trying to lay. She's eating and drinking normally. What should I do?

    First intro to run

If it's warm and the run is enclosed so they can't get out go for it!

One of my chickens laid her first egg and seems distressed now that it's gone

Two of my chickens laid their first eggs today, and we took them from the coop. One of them (who we're pretty sure laid one of the eggs) is now acting fairly distressed. She is clucking very loudly whenever she sees me, and is going up to poke around in the coop much more than usual. We gave...

    Watering overnight?

My chickens are spending the night outside for the first time tonight. Our coop has a section for the chickens at night + nesting boxes, and then a mini run, where the feeder and waterer are (we have also a bigger run). We have foxes and raccoons in our neighborhood, so I want to close the door...

How tall does the run fence need to be?

We have two red sexliks, one plymouth rock and two new hampshire x (we think). Will five feet be good enough?

How tall does the run fence need to be?

My family's building our chicken run, but we don't know how tall the fence should be so the chickens can't escape. Any advice?

    Bully chick

You could try tapping it gently on the back whenever it pecks...

    new to this chick thing

Put your hand in with some treats or feed and let them explore it. You can also let them perch on you if they don't like being held. And NO you should not move them to the coop yet. Wait until about 6 weeks
