    Radjah shelduck

hi all! I’m re-posting here! I recently saw these beauties and saw on purely poultry they sell pairs for a whopping $579USD. Holy cow! Does anyone know a hatchery that may sell the hatching eggs? We aren’t looking to buy for a couple more years, we’re in the process of getting married and...

    Radjah shelduck?

Oh you’re right, I wasn’t sure if they were identified as sort of ornamental but I’ll definitely have to post there. Thank you!!

    Radjah shelduck?

Makes sense! They’re exotic to America I guess so that is definitely a cause for price. If that’s the case and we end up putting the cash in, would there even be a market for selling hatching eggs/ducklings on our end? As far as I know they aren’t well-known around here

Tell me about your Cayuga ducks!

I've read they are seasonal layers like muscovy and their eggs look so neat! Tell me more about their temperament and egg production, pros and cons compared to other duckies, etc.

    Muscovy in chicken nest boxes?

UPDATE: She laid her first egg this morning!! Right in front of me it was awesome! She opted for the nest the other ducks made in their hay rather than a nesting box. I'm so proud of her!

    Muscovy in chicken nest boxes?

Oh my goodness miss Lydia all your ducks are goof balls! I'll be keeping an eye on my girl to see if she's going to poop out an egg for me

    Muscovy in chicken nest boxes?

Ok so maybe she's close! On my cameras I can see her going in and out of the boxes every now and then. It's kind of cute!

    Muscovy in chicken nest boxes?

Hi all! All my birds (8 chickens, 4 ducks) are laying except my muscovy. The ducks make their own nest in the coop and lay there until I let them out and I've been getting 3 duck eggs a day. Yesterday I saw my muscovy jump into the nesting boxes my chickens use and thought maybe she'd curious...

San bernardino and riverside county, CA duck laws?

Hi all! We made the decision to move to either San bernardino County or riverside county. We are going to focus on just ducks and we're wondering what the laws were. I can't find anything on ducks on their websites

    Grass seeds?

Oh thank you I'll have to do that! Yeah it's always been spotty, we're renting from my boyfriend's mom and she never really took care of the backyard. He said this year is the nicest it's looked since I've been working outside with the chickens and ducks haha

    Grass seeds?

Our goal is a little bit of each. Our backyard has been spotty for years and the girls keep the length well maintained without digging any up. Would clover be a good choice? It grows like a weed and we just had some sprout in the front yard

    Grass seeds?

Hi all! My girls free range in my backyard. They don't pull up/dig up grass at all and in fact are keeping it trimmed so we don't have to mow or anything. We think we want to put down some grass seed since our backyard was patchy and funky before we even had a flock. Any grass you recommend...

New layers, confused on where to lay?

Hi all! So i have a mixed flock of 8 chickens and 4 ducks. Everyone just started laying and a lot of them are doing so good laying in the nesting boxes. I have two that will not which is odd. They all share a coop and backyard. One (I think my sapphire gem) likes to lay on the floor but only...

    Muscovy sexual maturity?

Hi all! I have a lovely muscovy girl and I'm not sure when she will be laying. All my other ducks and chickens have just started within the past couple weeks with supplemental light. My muscovy doesn't have very prominent cornucles at all but they are very red. She gets excited and follows...
