We have hens and all is well, we know how to care for them. Last night at the fair we got two ducklings. Based on the info the "duck expert" gave us, it seemed like a good idea, but now the more I think about it the more I wonder if I should try to take them back?!
Currently, they are doing...
I'm not sure what to do. My hens have eaten away at the filter covering the AC. I have a VERY small yard and can't keep them contain to one side of the yard because it is so small. I also don't want to confine them to their coop. I'm trying to figure out how to keep them from eating it...
We're planning to go away for a couple of days and I'm wondering about eggs that are laid while we are gone. Will they still be edible if left out?
Basically, how long can they be left out before needing to be refrigerated?

Did I say I was just looking for egg color? No, I did not. However, that is IMHO one of the beautiful things about the breed, in addition to all of their other fine qualities.

Currently, I am looking for a chick/pullet/hen that will be kept...
Sorry to hear about your hen. Just wanted to say hello because we are from Livermore, too. And, we just got two chicks, which we named Chickita and Henerietta. Good luck!
I've been wanting to raise chickens in our backyard for some time. We live in a condo, so we have a very small backyard. We are raising our two chicks inside and I've been obsessively searching for the right affordable coop on-line. I'm not sure what to do? My husband isn't handy. I am, but...
