    First Egg Countdown

    We have 12 pullets ages 5 months to 5 months 3 weeks all different breeds and have not gotten the first egg yet! We have a great coop with 6 nesting boxes. We feed them layer feed with DE, brewers yeast, oatmeal and pro-biactin mixed in. Any suggestions besides wait longer? Getting kind of bummed!

    So do we think the black is a hen and the sort of barred is the roosrer?

    We bought them from a local hatchery. I see shiny green feathers on the black chicken. From what you are saying, I'll bet the mother was an astrolorpe and the father a bared rock. If that were the case, would the black offspring be hens and the roosters would have the bared rock look or vise-versa?
