    Lethargic, puffed up chicken

I believe it was coccidiosis. I did not have the feces tested but the corid medicine seemed to have worked. Best of luck with your bird!

    Lethargic, puffed up chicken

Another update. I isolated her and she finally pooped. There are what looks like little black worms in her poop? Couldn't get a photo of exactly what i am referring to but here's a photo of the poop.

    Lethargic, puffed up chicken

So after speaking with Wilco Farm Store where i got the pullets they say that they do not get their chicks vaccinated against coccidosis so the medicated feed should be protecting against it. They suggested that she might be stressed after the move outside and the colder night time temperatures...

    Lethargic, puffed up chicken

I've got 6 chickens that are now about 6 weeks old. I just recently brought them outside from their brooder downstairs. The coop has "flock fresh" bedding which is chopped straw and alfalfa. The run is mainly bare ground with some sand and some grass and weeds. I am feeding medicated starter...

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Yeah, i am kind of wishing i built it a little shorter but the pallets stacked up to that height so nicely lol. I do plan to give it some slope to drain though. It won't be flat. I'm thinking I'll be able to get about 4inches of decline over the 8ft. Might not be enough.

    Second guessing my coop plan?

That will be strong enough for the floor?

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Makes sense. I was also going to put hardware cloth or similar across the floor and bury it with topsoil or dirt to stop diggers.

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Still working on that. I've got corrugated roof panels, was thinking i would build a frame. Any ideas?

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Here's a photo of the coop now. Just need to add the roof.

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Another thought I just had. I can add more wood to the pallets to make the gaps thinner, stopping more predators from getting in.

    Second guessing my coop plan?

I can get a photo up tomorrow. But in the first picture I posted you can see the two side walls and the front wall laying on the ground with the roof on top of it. If you can just imagine the third wall secured on the front instead of on the ground- that is what I've got! I am in Vancouver...

    Second guessing my coop plan?

Looking for advice. I've built an 8'x12' coop out of pallets and i am very happy with how it came out. I just have to add the door and roof and figure out the run area. I think I am realizing that it needs to be more secure but probably cannot afford to put hardware cloth across the whole thing...

    Excited to be here!

Checking in from Vancouver, WA. This is my first time raising chickens. I brought home 6 pullets- 3 black stars, 2 silver laced wyandottes, and 1 easter egger. My wife was a bit unsure about it but they have quickly grown on her. I love walking into the room where the brooder is and saying hi to...
