    Opinon please

    It is really hot. Hitting 95-100 every day. The nights are fairly hot also. I have about 75 babies in my brooder. They are around 3 weeks old. I don't have a light on them anymore. Do you think it would be too early for them to go out to the nursery pen, out in the open? I worry about them...

    This is exactly what my husband and I are working on. Our quail population has diminished greatly. They are actually offering grants for being a breeder.

    I agree, they are chickens........... However a tube is crickets is a lot of fun, but I am not sure how old they should be to enjoy that.

    Warning: Watch out for those heat lamps

    Putting chicken wire on top of your brooder will not always work, it depends on how your brooder is set up. My heat lamps are secured with screws, they aren't going anywhere.

    Introducing 3-4 week olds to adults and the outdoors.

    I put mine together last year with no problem, we put in a big wooden box with a hole cut out of the front big enough for the babies but not big enough for the adults. That way they could hide when they got picked on.
