    Easter Egger club!

Well Looks like this would be the place where I share my EE mixes?? Very puffy cheeks and thick necks, some of my favorites of the flock because they are very sweet. They are about 12-13 weeks right now. I have 14 birds and the breeding was Black Copper Maran father to a Cuckoo...

I have a butt pecker... now what?!!

So I have one hen of my 14 chickens who is being problematic. She is not the alpha hen I don't believe, she is more skidish and sneaky. She runs around and plucks butt feathers out of my other chickens. I have 5 roosters who aren't doing much about it. They are all about 12 weeks old. Coop is...

The chicken with the lightest orange on his neck ( I say he, because he crows every morning we let the group out lol ) He is this little guy from my previous...

    "Prince" Feed?

Well obviously this is an older thread.. I'm a bit late to join in. But I just bought 14 six week old chicks (now 8 weeks). I purchased the Prince Animal Feed for poultry and was told it'll be fine for my chicks... They do love it, but I don't see any directions on the bag. Is this just a...

When do they need nest boxes??

Thanks! That answers all my questions :) I kind of assumed you wouldn't want them in nest boxes, I just wasn't sure why they weren't roosting. But they are young, so they have time to figure it out. Thanks for your help!

When do they need nest boxes??

Hey, I'm new to chickens.. so I am still figuring out behaviors. In my coop I have roosting bars and some tree branches.. but all 14 chickens insist on stuffing themselves all in the door way between the run and the coop. I spend 10 min getting them all out of the door way so I can shut it for...

Some of my little guys/gals *pics*

The flock is much more settled in, all doing well, healthy, friendly and funny to watch. Here are a couple shots of them more feathered out! This little orange chest is Robin, he's (assuming) pictured in the first on on the left of water bowl. Some have flat combs... nearly non existent...

    Hello Everyone!

@Family Farming , I like it a lot up here. We just moved here due to my fiances job change. It's our dream home and we were allowed to get chickens! But it is very far from out families and friends :/ It will take a little getting used to. Michelle

Oh, good. I'm glad they aren't slowly dying off. lol I hoped they were just enjoying the new area, and not dying. I knew it was probably silly to ask.. but I don't really know chicken behavior yet. Thanks :)

Also, they just kinda lay down and stretch out when they do this. They clean themselves too sometimes while they are all sprawled out.

I just brought these 6 week old chicks home, last Saturday. They have adjusted to their coop well, know how to get in and out of the fenced run, surround me when I bring treats out to them, and all are eating, drinking well. All the waste they produce looks the same. The last couple days they...
