1" holes, I would say no. You can pick up a Saw Hole Bit. If you have no other use for a Saw Hole Bit, borrow one or buy a cheapo for $6-8.Hope this helps...

Found this thread and wanted to comment. A simple rat trap with bloody raw meat tied to the trigger with floss will take care of them or a set up like a weasel box. Look up a local Trapper, he will be glad to help you out.

Ventilation is very important. I would open it up a bit, one end or top halves of both ends. Check on threads addressing ventilation for more information.
