Best place to order guinea chicks?

We will be moving into our farm mid July and I'm trying to find a hatchery that will ship us guinea chicks during the summer. Are guinea chicks just too delicate to ship during the summer? And do certain colors do better? As in, not get picked off by predators because they don't stand out as...

    New in Mississippi

I joined this forum years ago when I was looking for chicks for my mom's farm, but now our family is getting our own farm. We are looking forward to getting guinea hens and possibly some chickens and geese that could stand up to being free range. I'm hoping you guys can help us learn what...

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

I think it'd okay to hold them if it's only once or twice a day and you're very careful. You have to teach kids how to hold baby animals. They don't understand until they see you show them how.

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

Wow. Yes, I know where Norman is. And yes it's the Stillwater OSU campus. My husband is going for his PHD in Accounting. He's not an animal person like me. My parents have a farm here and they are animal lovers like me. The chicks are actually for them. They just let me have them for a few days...

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

I have them on paper towels now. I see your license plate avatar is from OK. Are you from Oklahoma? I ask because I'm from MN, but we're moving to OK this summer. My husband is going to go to OSU for his PHD.

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

Oh, straddle leg! I should have seen that being a potential issue. I used to raise pigeons. *clunks self on head* Duh. Now they are about 7 days old. Do I still need to worry about straddle leg? Feel free to pelt me with suggestions. I have done this before and with all sorts of baby birds. I...

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

Thank you. Someone told me we can't handle them because it stresses them out and they might die. Is that true?

My 3 little White Rock chicks...

I posted a thread about the one poor little chicks bum earlier, but now I have real pictures to share. Hanging out with my little dears. Got pooped on for it too. LOL. My son enjoying one of our little ones. Peaches, Vanilla and Squeaky Here they are after they got their bums...

Week Old Chick with weird bum-HELP

Yeah, they all had a bit of a pasty butt when I first got them. Now they're seeming fine though. As a precaution I rinsed all their vent areas with lukewarm water just now. I wouldn't normally do that this young, but it's been in the 80's today and our house is an oven. I think it's plenty warm...

Week Old Chick with weird bum-HELP

I need to know if this looks normal or not? Sorry it's with a phone, but I can get better pics tonight. Here's the whole scoop... Picked up these chicks yesterday at a feed store. There are approximately 7 days old and they are White Rock Pullets. Big and active. Eating and (I think)...
