I performed this surgery about a month ago on 2 of my hens. This post was awesome! Now... i guess i did something wrong. They got infected again. One hen, i had to do to both feet. One foot, i cut the scab off, got one of the kernels out. I didn't feel anything else. The pad was still...
1st number is rural king. 2nd number is Amish. Protein min 16/16. Lysine min .6/.75. Mehtione min .25/.3. Crude fat min 3/2.5. Crude fiber max 8/4. Calcium min max 3.5-4/3-4. Phosphorus min .55/.6. Salt min max .25-.65/.1-.6
Alright! I finally compared some labels. most everything is roughly the same except one thing. ..CRUDE FIBER! Amish feed is max 4%. Rural king feed is max 8%. Not sure yet which is better or recommended or whatever. But that's the poop update
Opposite with my chickens. They eat (maybe waste) more of the Amish feed and poop less. They seem to peck and scratch more at It. Eat less and poop more of rural king feed. I've been told my 50# for $10 is reasonable. I've Seen rabbit manure sell for 4 to 7 dollars. Chickens manure supposed...
I saw something about that on a site. Idk. I clean the coop everyday and put all the poop in a bag lol. Got heavy so I weighed it. 50+#. Maybe I'm wrong on the 10 days. No more than 14 days tho. BUT the feed is a big difference! Less manure would be better. But if I'm selling it. Ha I want...
I googled "how much do chickens poop" I checked a couple of the links that popped up. The pounds of feed x 1.15 was an official looking report type page. The 11 lbs per 6 hens was supposedly a university of Missouri thing. Both ended up being about the same poundage so I'll assume it's correct
I've done some research. 1 study says 6 hens can produce 11 lbs a week. That's 1.84 a bird. X my 14. That's about 25# a week. Another says multiply lbs of feed by 1.15. I give 3lbs a day. So. 3.45# poop a day is a little over 24# a week. Maybe I'm off on my "10"days. BUT I just collect the...
Alright. I stated feeding my 14 chickens rural king brand layer crumbles. I was getting about 50 pounds of manure every 10 days. I've been collecting it out of the coop to sell. it was a 50 pound bag for $11. Everybody talks about Amish feed. 100 pounds for $16. The label looks about the same...
I guess I'm going to have to kill my flock of 14. Being new, I collected birds from 4 different places and threw them together over 4 months. Didn't quarantine them. Started with 1 a while back. Swollen bubbly eye. Then 1 with runny nose and bubbly eyes. Then 2 that were hacking and rattling...
Alright! The old pic and design are above. This is how it came out! I've decided no ladders to the roost so far. I don't think they need them even tho everybody says I do. I think the perch is good enough. Maybe later
So I'm renting a cabin that had a chicken "coop/pen" on it. So I got some chickens. Just a pain fenced in 12'x16'.added a roof. Added nesting boxes. Added the roost. Now that winter is coming I need to shield them from the elements I guess. So I found a box. It's 10'L x 24"H x 12"D. I think it's...
