Hi Peeps,
The eggs that are "road mapped" don't seem to be weak in any way. Have you noticed anything abnormal about yours?? Mine are free ranging, get Dumor laying pellets and also get oyster shell supplemented to them. Kinda weird...I think.

Hi Folks,
Some of my brown eggs, instead of being solid brown, have been getting darker lines in them. It has a road map affect. The shadowy lines are in the shell itself. The eggs still taste great but the visual appeal is gone.
Any suggestions? I would add a pic but the forum tells me I...
Is it really necessary to go from starter feed to finisher feed then to layer???? I'm using TSC feeds and that's what they recommend. I'd kinda like to skip the finisher feed and just go directly to layer pellets. My chicks are 11 weeks old.
Thanks Tony
Hi Mudd,
I bought the red plastic nipples that thread in. I also used 4" PVC for my water reservoir. Have had real good luck with this outfit. I've gone a complete year using this method. As I'm in NW PA. I found that an aquarium heater took care of the nipples not freezing up this past...
Thanks for all the help. We do handle our chicks a lot to get them somewhat domesticated, if that's at all possible. But again thanks for your help.
Donrae, I should have explained better on the number of chicks, half are for me and half for my son.

Hi,
I originally had this posted on another section of this site but didn't get any response so I figured I must have it posted on the wrong section and thought best that I try here.
I did a search on this site on Welsumers and found a thread that describes them as terribly aggressive. I...
I did a search on this site on Welsumers and found a thread that describes them as terribly aggressive. I planned on ordering 24 Welsumers and 12 White Leghorn chicks for a spring deliveery. Will they all co-exist without the Welsumers killing the Leghorns??
Also, are there any recommendations...
Hi Fuzzy,
Have you considered 4" PVC tube with a water nipple in the bottom for conserving space?
Also the 4" PVC with a double 90 deg elbow for the feed?
Just a thought.
Good luck with your chicks, they are quite the good time.
I've read that eggs are somewhat porous and do absorb moisture somewhat. I have a hen that lays an egg every morning from her roost onto the poop board. If I don't find it broken from the fall I will find it in a load of poop, cushoined from the fall. Is the egg going to absorb enough fecal...
This past year I started adding apple cider vinegar to my chickens water. This winter it seems that the water isn't freezing as easily as before. Is this possible? Does the vinegar affect the temperature that water normally freezes?
Thanks, Tony
I have to agree with Cafarmgirl and Fred. We had that very problem with a neighbor and ended up getting the electric poultry netting to keep them confined. If you put a couple together you can get a fairly large area.

I really appreciate your responses. Now I need a fix as to what to do. We all lose an egg from time to time because of one thing or another, but them laying eggs from the roost every night is becoming bothersome.
If I put a nite lite in ther coop, would that help? Or would that just keep the...
Morning,
I have two of my fourteen hens laying there eggs from the roost sometime before 4:30am. If the egg happens to land on a load of poop on the poop board it won't break, but if it misses any poop it will break. I've never had hens do this. What can I do to correct this?? All my other...
