    Mallard babies

The Federal Wildlife requires captive breed Mallards to be marked by clipping back toe. I believe it is before 6 weeks of age, just needed feedback from someone that had actually raised them.

    Mallard babies

We have 4 Mallards (3 hens & 1 drake) they had the back toe clipped when we got them. Now we have babies, at what age and how do you go about clipping the toe. We also have a pair of Black East Indies, she is currently sitting. Is there anything special that you must do to these to indicate...

Mallards finally hatched but something not right

They are hatched, actually out of shell except for their bottoms. I guess it could be the yolk, we'll give them today and see if they do anything further.

Mallards finally hatched but something not right

We took the advice on forum and did the floating test Friday evening, several looked promising even though it was day 29. On Saturday, we began to see some pipping and wrapped eggs in a warm damped papertowel. Out of 5 eggs we have 2 healthy babies. The others, 1 appeared to be all wrapped...

    Waiting....waiting....help?!?!?

They are Mallards, we actually did the float test tonight and a few look promising. Gonna hold out a couple of more days to see what happens. The chickens must have known I was talking about them today. When I got home 2 had pipped...we'll just be patient a little longer on them.

    Turkey Eggs

Our turkeys just started laying eggs, how long can we wait before putting them in the incubator? I've read several different articles and it seems to be roughly the 7 day range. Should we relay on candling if over the 7 day period? Since only getting 2-3 a day, wanted to hold off a little bit.

    When will they hatch?

So by my calculations she should be any day? I know she started sitting around the same time we set ones in incubator which was 3/10. That would make yesterday 4/7 day 28. Should we somehow seclude her from the other hens and drakes? We could partition off the area she has taken over in...

    Waiting....waiting....help?!?!?

Thanks, we were thinking about giving them the weekend before giving up hope. I assume from reading the floater instructions we could do this today and keep hope for those that pass the test?

    Waiting....waiting....help?!?!?

I have 2 sets of eggs waiting on some babies. When do you give up? Neither set show signs of anything. Duck eggs were set on 3/10 and Chickens on 3/16, these were both done in incubator. I also have a mallard hen that started sitting on a nest in pen as well around the same time. In the pen...

    When will they hatch?

Yes we candled at 7-14 & before taking out of turner. Several showed signs of movement and looked healthy, only a couple were questionable when we started "hatch" term. Total of like 36 eggs combined, I believe 25ish are the ducks. Any advice on the mom outside?
