I'm about to begin sketching out designs for movable fence sections and I need a good idea of how high chickens can fly. Any suggestions would be great.
You could have one barrel bolt latch on bottom and one on top to make it sag less. maybe you could even use a combination padlock with the combination painted on the side:)
Thanks. I don't have a known serious rat problem. I've just been reading all these posts where people come home from work to find their chickens dead. And no I'm not just making it out of sheet metal. and from what you said Pat, I'm going to ditch the whole sheet metal idea after all.

I'm very new at this(VERY) and I accidentaly let a rooster in with the hens. I figure some of the might be fertile. I'll figure out whitch ones. I'm glad I don't have to let the fertile eggs die. I've put all of the eggs into the incubator just in case.

What I was going to do for a roof is cut 2 2-4's from corner-to-corner and screw a slightly larger piece of plywood to those pieces. Then put roofing shingles on the plywood. It would have hinges on the left side and latches on the right.
